한민족의 말과 글을 온 세계에 알려서 널리 활용되기를 소망하는 이들에 의해서 출발된 비영리 교육 단체로서 한인 2세 한글 교육에 종사하는 워싱턴 DC, 메릴랜드, 버지니아, 웨스트 버지니아 지역에 위치한 약 90여 개의 등록 한국학교들로 구성된 34년의 역사와 전통을 이어오고 있다. 미국 주류 사회의 교육 및 문화 활동에 적극 참여하며 한국의 역사와 아름다운 전통문화예술, 가족관 그리고 윤리관을 각 한국학교에서 가르칠 수 있도록 도움을 주어 예의 바르고 건전한 한인 2세 양성으로 미주 한인 사회에 이바지하는 재미 한국 교육 단체이다.
