日奈久温泉センター（愛称ばんぺい湯）。 始まりは約350年前の江戸時代に肥後細川藩の藩営温泉「御前湯」とされ、 明治から昭和にかけては「日奈久温泉本湯」、その後、昭和42年から「温泉センター」として多くの人に親しまれてきました。 そして、2009年7月21日 「ばんぺい湯」としてリニューアルオープン。 「ばんぺい湯」という愛称には、八代特産の晩白柚のように多くの人々に愛され利用される温泉施設になってほしいという願いが込められています。
